He was trying to understand the story of how he had died…

… and you could tell from his face—he was confused.

An ordinary person. He’s in Rome, sitting at a small table in a café. In front of him, a freshly brewed espresso, still steaming.

He reads the newspaper, flipping through its pages in a frenzy, searching for something—some piece of information that might explain something to him, even though he’s not quite sure what he’s trying to understand.

For him, it was a daily ritual: every morning, he’d buy the newspaper at that dull, gray newsstand, walk into the café, sit at his usual round table, and order the usual coffee.

He’ll keep doing this for many years. He’ll keep flipping through those pages, always frantically, always searching. Without knowing what for. Without ever finding it.

Years later, he’ll realize what he had been looking for: clues about his death, his fate, what was waiting for him in the future.

That man is you.

Maybe that man is me.

Most likely, we are both that man.

All of us, passionate about politics, are convinced we can control what’s coming, just because we know what’s happening now.

But that man—with his coffee and his newspaper— will he really manage to keep everything under control?

Will he be able to read between the lines and find clues about what lies ahead?

If you're wondering what I write about—this is it.

Together, we’ll discover what’s happening and how it’s shaping our lives.

And I do it the Italian way: relaxed, thoughtful, and with quality.

I’m Simone. I read that newspaper—and I try to read the future for you, between the lines of the present.
